Friday, December 5, 2014 at 2 pm
Is there time in your current day for thoughtful fun? How about authentic learning?? Imagine precious time for yourself, sharing with others and made up of sweet present moments???
On December 5th, the Cre8Cafe will serve its next Cre8Menu to the next group of curious urban adventurers…. and we invite you to take part. We’ll offer a combined, participative experience, a full 1/3 day, produced and directed by Cre8Host, Michael Hoffman, featuring the Winter’s Light. We guarantee this is one urban experience you’ll love.
Imagine a dark mid-Friday winter day… early darkness, stark weather and gray. Most of us can anticipate the pre-weekend commute of heavy traffic. Many can await a transition from hectic week to a more hectic weekend. We offer a uniquely special juncture for ALL of YOU – time that you’ll find intensely satisfying and rewarding.
How does it work?
Combining four realms of our Cre8Menu: cultural, athletic, health, culinary where we add and blend to offer “renaissance” experience. You learn by doing and cre8ing, no spectating here. Brainstorm & body-storm a most enjoyable program to illuminate the start of winter’s days. Come solo, meet others, or invite along whomever.
How do you work…or play?
Part I: Experience live culture – you’ll experiment with art and music, practicing alongside our able, passionate artists who guide the way. People come in with all levels of expertise and experience – you’ll stretch yourself in new, fun ways.
What’s essential is for everyone tastes the mysterious first steps – that awkward exhilaration – of the “beginner’s mind” when we dance with progress, and magical things unfold. Instead of struggling with winter’s dark energy, there’s everyone’s bright smile as we all go in that sacred place of joyfully learning together.
We’ll email you the 2nd and 3rd courses of our Cre8Menu shortly. Here we ask you to put us on your calendar for Friday, December 5 at 2 pm.
Don’t forget to check out our Facebook page and participate in our weekly giveaways of great prizes. Our current contest is ongoing and will last until the end of November, so don’t wait! Please help spread the word by sharing this email, and like us on Facebook.
Have a Cre8Day!
What a perfect day, on August 8, 2014a “cre8day” to debut our cre8CAFE and introduce the cre8MENU!
Here was a delightful, stimulating afternoon filled with culture, energy and food – experiential learning at its intimate best with a diverse group of old and new friends of different ethnicities and backgrounds, guided by teaching experts to reach within ourselves to go beyond our comfort zones.
Laura Conrad Mandel, Director of New Center NOW, led our cultural artistic experience. She chose Sumi-e for our artexperience. It’s the ancient Japanese art brush technique, deeply rooted in Zen Buddhism, that helps people express, emote and create simply.
While some of us have been artists in heart and more experienced than others, others were somewhat nervous and weren’t so sure. Nonetheless, we all offered our creative juices and boldly moved forward with our art projects. When we were done with our paintings, we all went around and described our artwork. The results were stunning and surprising. It was inspiring to see the smiles as the artists shared what was lurking in all of us. Check out our work!
Kate Haffernan, an award-winning yoga instructor from Down Under Yoga, led our yoga experience. Kate put together a well-crafted Vinyasa sequence and precise yoga moves. Kate had us moving under a sunny and bright blue sky on the rooftop. To some the hot yoga lent an authenticity to the tropical Pune heat experience. The private deck was filled with people – happy for some, cramped for others (just like India). With Cambridge skylines as our backdrop and fresh air coming through Cre8stay’s roof deck, it was relaxing yoga with a positive energy cre8flow experience. We followed by a meditative Savasana.
Debra Stark is a renowned pioneer in and authority on healthy, natural and local foods. She led us through dinner. She’s owner of Debra’s Natural Gourmet of West Concord (rated one of the nations’ top 100 natural food stores in the country. She gave us great tips on the kind of organic ingredients we should have in our kitchen, from celtic sea salt, coconut sugar, local vegetables to almond mill.
Debra whipped us up several dishes and dessert in no time – we made scrumptious beets and tomato salad, a yummy shrimp dish, to-die-for almond and pistachio cookies. We had a relaxing and animated dinner ending with Rabbi Oksana’s wonderful Shabbat.
We want to thank, no, express gratitude – as friends are encouraging each of us: 1. to all the leaders and volunteers for cre8ing our wonderful first cre8 environment.
2. to the participants, who came enthusiastic, curious and open-minded to take part.
To all those who are adept in looking into the future, as well as those in the past and present who recognize and embrace, creativity as a pursuit, and get that the life that loves creativity and learning, is a rich and rewarding life indeed.
We are looking forward to introduce our official cre8Cafe shortly, stay tuned.
Experience cre8aissance with renaissance hospitality from cre8stay!
How about some real, live EXPERIENTIAL fun? Who’s open to join a small group and me for a day or eve? Let me welcome you to the Cre8Cafe. Our approach is to add & blend a few activities, each very much real and alive, fun, stretching and, yes, EXPERIENTIAL, to help you create with us an intensely satisfying and rewarding time.
Unlock the Possibilities
We begin with possibilities from the four realms of our Cre8Menu: culinary, culture, athletic and health. You’ll learn by cre8ing and doing, as we can help you brainstorm & bodystorm to come up with the most enjoyable program for you, as well as whomever you want join you.
OK -specifics? Let’s illuminate. Many good times can begin and end with food. We take you to select places in Cambridge where you get to taste, test and touch foods, often in collaboration with the owner or the chef, to savor both healthy and new. With special flavors that you can add to your experiences and to be part of the cre8menu process.
Next we can move to culture – such as writing, painting, sculpting or music – where you practice alongside the artists, who will teach and show us the way. People come in from different points of expertise. Do you clay? Do you like jamming? How about poetry? Or even wood? Still it’s essential everyone experiences the mysterious first steps of beginning, some of the awkwardness and the “beginner’s mind” that dances with progress, and the exhilaration as things unfold.
We transition over to athletics, where you’ll take part in any number of mind-body activities. It’s amazing with all the choices one can do in and near our City. Recently, we took part in a triathlon, followed by a scrumptious local seafood feast and t
hen scenic trek along the sandy beaches in Marblehead. Within a very short time, we were able to swim and bike in an intense short course. Then there’s climbing walls and boating (kayaking/windsurfing). There’s the different flavors or paths of yoga (and meditation) to gear up the energy as well as to wind down. These are among some of the athletic activities we’ll experience.
At the end or when it’s right, we can have final focus on health. It’s wonderful to conclude a full schedule with time in the hot tub (private or communal), or enjoy a single or partner massage, acupuncture or any modality where you can learn about yourself, your body and leave you satisfied, peaceful and joyful.
Putting all these elements together so that they work for you is in our age of compressed time. Cre8Menu guides you to focus on being and doing, rather than what’s next, and not just rush through but really live. Imagine this, just ahead of your vision and at your fingertips, the Cre8Aissance!
Can it be OUR time to experience a personal renaissance? Why not? Now, is after all the only time we do have. And while each of us can reflect on how real or not that is, once perhaps I expand on what this means, where it’s coming from and what potentially we can do with it, I think it can resonate with each of us with more relevance.
Renaissance means “rebirth”. It was a time in history of wonderful awakening, of rich developments in society across all cultural, spiritual and physical areas.
Expanded further towards the individual, it’s an especially special time, often following a huge setback or difficult period, of healthy change and personal growth.
The personal renaissance focuses on realizing each of our wholeness from what could be our whole potential. Why is wholeness so good? Try to observe it yourself and what’s around you. In my own experience, each of our starting points, the richest and most satisfying experiences are when I engage more of my intelligence, feelings and abilities. Observe: the whole person, whole nutrition, whole fitness, and whole talents. What some refer to as whole mind, body and soul?
Why do this? It is up to you. Yet you may feel it isn’t. This can be the first step towards achieving freedom, personal empowerment and discovery – that you do have the choice and the chance to learn – regardless of the field.
Art, culinary literature, dance, music, athletics, philosophy or health…….by yourself or with others….as part of your work or as part of your leisure or family time.
I am here to create an ultimate personal renaissance for you through cre8stay.
I’m a guy who’s been climbing a mysteriously challenging tree – at times with pleasure, at times wistfully and at times philosophically. I can’t tell when the epiphany happened or why. Was it unfragility, randomness, personal evolution or proactive development? I discovered the tree is wonderful. It’s blessed. And it’s help me give birth to what I call renaissance hospitality. Come read and enjoy.
Renaissance hospitality reaches for the very best of the joyful experiences it’s possible to create when guests visit. Way beyond what most people think of when hosting or receiving a stranger to stay in their home.
