our cre8stay mission
Allow me to share the inspiration behind and the mission of our cre8stay-cre8cafe.
At different significant moments or events in each of our lives, we have special realizations. These may be different and revolving, or they can be reaffirming, refining and evolving. For me, and in discussions with others, we acknowledge that our time on the planet is finite and our focus is best spent on how to recognize and realize the best possible quality of life. This is QUALITY and not QUANTITY. While it may start in the physical realm or any of our realms, it ultimately must reside in the spiritual/emotional/intellectual domain. This opportunity is open to us at any age, from young to very old, and any health condition. Most of us experience opportunities for realization – health challenges or life changing events – no matter how strongly or stubbornly we try to avoid them.
To me, life is about creating and sharing opportunities with others that focus on experiential learning. This is made up of curiosity, knowledge, adventure and communication – plus passion and love. Applying all these parts and pieces together and taking part with others doing the same, creates a magical alchemy, the magical moments, events, times and adventures that make us warm and smile with inner laughter and joy.
cre8stay is dedicated to creating a place, a home, where people are welcome to live on an extended-stay of 1-6 months, visit as an invited friend for 3-7 days or just stop by for a day or evening. Children have taken their first walks here, adults of all ages have celebrated their first Thanksgivings and Passovers, authors have written significant works here and some amazing meals have concocted, shared and enjoyed. Over the past 6 years, I’ve hosted strangers, acquaintances and relatives from all continents of the world – almost all have become dear friends of mine and several with each other.
cre8cafe explores the urban and area adventure opportunities of greater Cambridge and beyond. Building on experiential learning and people’s known and about-to-be-known interests, we discover the how to’s/way to’s of their passions in culture, culinary, athletic and wellness. Because everyone’s time is precious and we’re fighting overbooked schedules, work stresses, traffic delays and lines – our vision is to create days, eves or weekends where people can experience their passions seamlessly, gracefully, graciously – without hassles, waits or even check-outs or pay-times. This is alchemy of a different sort, for which I have a conceptual name (to be shared in the not too distant future).
cre8compassion is a pledge to appreciate the gift of life for people of all ages and conditions. We’re focusing here on time with those dealing with chronic and terminal illness. Certain places have realized that life can be preciously experiences even in the most challenging circumstances. There’s much we can learn from these situations and offer of ourselves to make the circumstances a blessing for these people. I have helped support those dealing with cancer, especially at the Dana Farber Hospital and its Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies. I am also training as a volunteer at Care Dimensions of Greater Boston, the area’s larges hospice organization, where I plan to offer reiki therapy as well as with puppy, Yurei Bernadette, dog therapy to people.
